Healing Arts: New Pathways to Health Film and Tour

In 2006, the Initiative produced an inspirational 28-minute film about the impact of arts and healthcare partnerships have on the lives of people living with emotional and physical challenges, and their caregivers. Directed by Benjamin Mayer, this film highlights arts and healing stories through the eyes of patients, healthcare staff and follows three healing artists-in-residence-Tod Machover of the MIT Media Lab; writer and teacher Peggy Rambach; and dancer Michelle Pearson-as they work with patients, families and caregivers. The film also features interviews with participating healthcare site leaders and Vermont Art Exchange Executive Director, Patricia Pedreira.

The Healing Arts Initiative has launched a tour of the film and educational panel program that can be booked and presented at Universities, Colleges, healthcare facilities, conferences, community-based arts and/ or health programs. The film tour includes a panel discussion facilitated by Patricia Pedreira along with a participating artist, healthcare provider and/or patient from the project.
